The baby is rapidly gaining weight in the form of fat deposits which will serve as energy source. Due to the fat deposits, the wrinkled skin will smooth out and within next 11 weeks the baby tends to double or even triple his/her whole body weight. The frequent kicks and movements are a good sign of baby’s development. Vernix Caseosa, the waxy white substance protecting the baby skin slowly starts to disappear as the baby has lanuoga (fine downy hair) covering the body.
The baby’s ideal weight is estimated to be approximately 1.15 kg (2.54 pounds).
