How Does Stem Cell Banking Work

1. Baby's birth

The umbilical cord and placenta of your newborn is clamped and cut immediately after birth.

2. Cord Blood Collection

Blood drawn out of the umbilical cord is collected in a special bag by your doctor or a LifeCell paramedic.

3. Safe Transfer Of Sample

The special collection kit is then safely transported and delivered to the LifeCell laboratory.

4. Examination & Analysis

The cord blood sample is analysed and the stem cells are separated from the whole blood.

5. Cryopreservation

The extracted stem cells are placed in special containers and preserved in a liquid nitrogen storage tank at -196 degree

6. Dual Site Storage

The stem cells are stored at dual sites, in Chennai as well as Gurugram, for backup.

7. Preservation Certificate

You will be entitled to a valid preservation certificate from LifeCell.
