Wondering what to expect from Week - 30

Baby’s Growth

As the baby is maturing at a faster pace, his/her brain is also developing with grooves and indentations to accommodate the increasing brain tissue. This week, the bone marrow starts to prepare red blood cells which imply that the baby is gearing up for survival. In few weeks, the baby may slow down growing in length but gains weight till birth. By the end of 7th month, your baby opens and shuts his/her eyes and able to distinguish light from dark inside the uterus. Did you know that at this stage, your baby is the size of a cabbage?

Baby’s Weight

The ideal weight of the baby is estimated to be 1.3 kg (2.91 pounds)

Mother’s Health

As your body enlarges in size, your skin also expands which might lead to stretch marks and itchiness. Use cocoa butter moisturizer often as required to avoid scratching of the skin. This week, your uterus may enlarge and presses the diaphragm, causing breathlessness. This is quite normal as many pregnant women feel difficult to get enough air after week 30. Change your sitting and sleeping positions to relieve from breathlessness.

The good news: You are in your 30th week and only 10 more weeks left to see your little sweet pea’s face.

Pregnancy Symptoms

The not-so-good news- you may expect some of the first trimester pregnancy symptoms back, such as, frequent urination as your baby’s head pressing the urinary bladder, heart burn, indigestion, tender breasts, fatigue etc. You may also experience the formation of stretch marks, edema and constipation.

Pregnancy Tips

  • To avoid heart burn and indigestion, stay away from spicy foods, oily foods and chocolates. Try to eat smaller meals at regular interval and do not lie down immediately after eating.
  • If you are feeling breathless as the pregnancy progresses, change your sleeping postures. You can take nap in a semi seated posture with pillows behind your back to support.
  • Eat a well balanced diet rich in fiber and nutrients to avoid constipation.
