Welcome - Second Trimester!
Your baby can now make facial expressions like smiling, grimacing, and squinting. Your baby will also start sucking thumb and make chewing movements
Time For Weight Gain
From here on, you’ll start gaining some weight regularly - about ½ a kg per week for the rest of your pregnancy.
At week 14, you’re in the fourth month!
Now, your little champ can respond to external stimuli although you may not be able to sense it. For instance, if your abdomen is poked, the baby wiggles. The eyes and ears will shift to correct positions and the baby can make facial expressions such as smile, frown, squint, etc. This week, your baby’s thin skin will be covered by ultra fine soft hair called lanugo which will disappear soon after birth.
Baby’s Length: 8.7 cm
Baby’s Weight: 43 g
It’s time for you to start wearing your pregnancy clothes as the waistline tends to expand and you may gain more weight.
Your body might experience more energy so it is time to get involved in any prenatal workout routine like yoga, cardio, walking or aerobics.
Your uterus is slightly raised out of the pelvic bone and into the lower abdomen showing a little bump.
For most pregnant women, nearly all the symptoms would have gone by now. Although, some expectant moms might experience nausea, heartburn, indigestion, constipation, bloating and gas, as the body responds differently to each pregnant woman.
Increased Hunger Pangs
Morning sickness has no more effect on your body in the second trimester so you may feel hungrier with your appetite back on track.
If you have extreme mood swings, just relax and blame the hormones.
Your gums might bleed when flossed or brushed. This gum inflammation is partly caused by hormonal changes that make your gums more sensitive to the bacteria in plaque.
